Today, we’d like to introduce you to new Romanian export Bastien with earwormy electronic-pop single ‘Stay With Me’. First things first, let’s crack the song. It’s a stormy number of clean pop vocals, pulsating electronica, and a soulful R&B core that pairs well with Bastien’s earnest pleas for love and loyalty. The Eastern European artist has been very much influenced by the UK scene, noting James Arthur, Kwabs and James Blake as some of his favourites, and although for a time he tried to reconcile his artistic instinct with Romanian mainstream culture, he found that they couldn’t quite understand his genre-blending vision. Through travel Bastien was able to expand his horizons, such as visiting his label in Paris and studios in Berlin, and he hopes to spend time in London, cultivating his sound further. Currently working from his home studio setup, where he experiments with his voice, guitar and production, ‘Stay With Me’ is a siren song of hope. As the bright-eyed artist shares: "I'm still at the beginning of my career but I know which way I want to go. I want to sing about the things that move me and find my own sound.
